In his capacity as Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Fusion Energy John went to Tokamak Energy for a briefing on their latest work.
Guided by Executive Vice Chairman, David Kingham (who has long-standing involvement with the APPG) John visited the ST40 tokamak, control room and their magnets lab. This is a world-class facility where the company are developing the technology that underpins work toward using fusion energy in domestic supply. This could be just 10 years away.
John said: It is some while now since I first visited the company and I was fascinated to see the new facilities and technological developments. This is world leading work and I am proud to see it developed locally. I look forward to learning more about this in the future. It is an important contribution to work in so many areas not least security of energy supply and clean energy.
The APPG on Fusion Energy works to inform interested parties in parliament, the industry and academia of the latest advances in fusion energy, how fusion research and development can benefit the UK, and how this research can best be aligned with the UK’s industrial and research policy.
