On Monday 25th October John was joined by the Speakers of both the House of Lords and the House of Commons to welcome Little Amal to Parliament.
Little Amal is a 3.5 metre-tall puppet of a young refugee girl, which represents displaced children separated from their families, Little Amal is travelling over 8,000km in search of her mother.
John was introduced to Little Amal through his work as Leader of the UK delegation to the Council of Europe. In support of displaced children from across the world, in this case in search of her mother, he arranged for Little Amal to make a stop at Parliament and meet the Speakers of both Houses.
The Walk, Little Amal’s journey, started from the Syrian-Turkish border. Details of the journey can be found on the Walk with Amal website.
