This is a short statement on my position with regards to Boris Johnson. In my discussion with the Whips and others I have indicated my view that he should step down. I understand that he has now said that he will resign. I think this is the best thing for the country and for a successful Government. However I deplore the way this has come about. We shall now need to wait to see how this develops. I am not going to comment further.
