On 17 February, the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government announced a range of ambitious initiatives to secure the future sustainability of the nation's parks and to fund the creation of new parks and green spaces. As part of this, the Government expanded the Pocket Parks Plus Programme to make available £3.75 million to local community groups to facilitate the creation of these new parks.
We invited applications from communities and, after a competitive process, we have awarded funding of up to £25,500 to 198 parks across England which includes £25,500 for Chinnor Parish Council to use within the parish and £25,500 to Drayton St Leonard Parish Council.
I said:
"I am delighted that we have won two very important amounts of funding in the constituency and I offer my congratulations to both Chinnor ad Drayton St Leonard. This is an important initiative which is all about the sustainability of some of our green spaces. I think these are so important for the health of our communities."
